Après pas moins de trois années de travail, j'ai le plaisir de vous présenter notre premier album, co-réalisé avec Joe Gaston.

Ce projet est né d'une idée : monter une formation chanteur-rappeur + musiciens, avec la règle suivante : aucune obligation de suivre les codes et idées reçues, quel que soit le genre musical.

C'est ainsi qu'au fur-et-à-mesure du temps, j'ai constitué mon équipe Live, avec des personnes sur la même longueur d'onde, dont Joe Gaston au clavier et Anthony Colnard au saxophone qui ne m'ont jamais quitté, la chanteuse Sweetyka aux choeurs, Fabrice Hamac à la guitare, Samuel Coyan à la batterie, et Dino à la basse.

Bien qu'ayant fait appel à des instrumentistes issus d'autres horizons pour réaliser les enregistrements de certains titres (dont certains étaient déjà entamés avant d'avoir monté ma formation), il était normal pour moi d'attribuer à ce projet le nom de mon groupe.

Voici donc "Sak' & Les Stéréo Tipps", bonne écoute !

ENGLISH

After almost 3 years or work, I have the pleasure to introduce you our first album Sak' & Les Stéréo Tipps, a project I co-directed with Joe Gaston.

This project started from a simple idea : gathering a musicians + singer/rapper musical collective, with the following rule : don't obey to principles imposed by musical genres, just do what we love.

During this year, I met lovely people who joined my live band, people with the same vision than me about music : Joe (keyboards) and Anthony Colnard (saxophone) who never left me, Sweetyka (backing vocals), Fabrice Hamac (guitar), Samuel Coyan (drums) and Dino (bass).

Even if I recorded with instrumentalists from various backgrounds, it was natural to me to give to the project the name of my live band.

Here's "Sak' & Les Stéréo Tipps", I hope you'll enjoy it !


SONGS EXPLANATIONS

« Stéréo Tipps », the opening track, sums up my vision of making music as part of a band: that is remaining down-to-earth, treating one another as equals, not striving for perfection but instead to serve the groove.

« Indéniable, véritable » ("Undeniable, true") pinpoints the major impact of consumer society on the financial crisis, which is just as much to blame, if not more, as our tendency to live beyond our means.

"Le temps d'une danse" highlights another powerful ability that music has: two persons becoming infatuated while dancing, and all of the things that may happen during this special moment.

"K" is a fictional tale inspired by some stories, which tells the story of a young Cambodian man who happens to work in a textile factory, his daily struggle and a behind-the-scenes look at those brands everybody loves.

"Comment le dirais-tu, Joe" ("How would you say it, Joe?") is a conversation between Joe (piano) and I (rap), which is a testament to the great complicity that we have, as we agree on one thing: only making the music that we love, regardless of what one might expect from us.

"Son monde" ("Her world") is derived from a poem dedicated to a woman left by her husband, who raises her child alone, which included one sentence that strongly moved me: "the man of my life is the one I hold in my arms".

"La connaissance" ("Knowledge") expresses the following idea: ignorance is a shelter within which one likes to take refuge in, out of fear of the harm knowledge can inflict. Those who know it don't hesitate to take benefit from this weakness.

"Hommage" ("Tribute") has been written following the loss of a loved one: it blends happy memories with the sadness that her loss brought.

"On t'appelle" ("They call you") can be read on two levels: a reaction against the anti-sensitivity clichés imposed by Rap, among other things, and the fact that many French artists tend to write and sing in English, most often out of modesty.

"Plus souvent" ("More often") is simply an ode to brotherly friendship, to the importance of knowing we can count on each other.
